About Daev

My name is Daev and I’m a psychotherapist and artist who has spent nearly three decades working in art and visual effects in one form or another before returning to my interest in psychology and the human psyche. In my career as an artist I’ve worked in architecture, in films, video games, and commercials and have taught a wide variety of classes at art schools in Colorado.

My lifelong passion for the arts, became interwoven with an interest in what drives humans to create, and specifically the symbols that are both conscious and unconscious that are expressed in art, or surface in other ways in someone’s life. Early on I was interested in the source for art from the unconscious and studied Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell. Eventually, this would lead me back to grad school where I studied Depth psychology and Jungian psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in California from 2019-2022.

As a student of Depth and Jungian psychology my interest in psychology overlaps with my fascination for dreams, art, myth, fairy tales and children’s literature, which hold clues to understanding the unconscious of individuals and the culture which exerts influence on us that is both positive and negative. These elements hold clues to understanding oneself and can be accessed in various ways such as through writing, art and exploring dreams.

Part of my own journey meant leaving the pace of Hollywood
for Colorado.

When not working in psychology, I paint landscapes of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and spend time with my wife and two sons. Life presents growth and tension through our relationships, and each relationship presents a chance to know others and know ourselves more deeply as well.

I bring to my practice my full experience in life which includes the grief, the triumphs, the failures and losses. I am especially interested in exploring the responsibility fathers have in helping their sons become good men and understanding where we may be lacking a template for what it means to be a father.
